Flight TE901 from Auckland (AKL) to Christchurch (CHC) with 20 crew and 237 passengers. First flight : 1974. Scenic charter flight over the Antartics. Flight co-ordinates were changed without the flight crew knowing this, with a flight route directing directly to Mt. Erebus in whiteout conditions Result : controlled flight into terrain. Airframe hrs : 20763 engines : GE CF6-50C2. All people on board died in the crash location : Mount Erebus, from the accident report : 77°25’30”S 167°27’30”E

Flight KE803 from Jeddah (JED), Saudi Arabia to Tripoli (TIP), Libya with 18 crew and 181 passengers. First flight : 1973. Approaching RW27 in poor weather with ILS inoperative. The aircraft flew into the ground on final approach crashing into 4 houses and a number of cars.

Airframe hrs : 49025 cycles : 11440 engines : GE CF6-50C2. 75 people onboard died in the crash and 4 more on the ground, 100 people got injured.

Flight UT772 from N’Djamena (NDJ), Chad to Paris (CDG), France with 14 crew and 156 passengers. Bomb exploded in the cargo bay while flying over Niger at FL350. Not totally clear who was responsible for the bomb attack, but 6 Libyans were convicted in absence by the French government. First flight : 1973 Airframe hrs : 60276 cycles : 14777 engines : CF6-50C2R. All people on board died in the crash.

Flight GA865 from Fukuoka (FUK), Japan to Denpasar (DPS), Indonesia with 15 crew and 260 passengers. Engine failure at take-off from Fukuoka RW16, 3 seconds after VR (158 kts). Take-off was aborted at around V2 and the airplane was put back on the ground but then the airplane could not be stopped in time anymore and overrun the runway with 620m. First flight : 1979 cause : HP turbine fan blade of nr.3 engine failed followed by to late abort, TO should have been continued after V1.

Airframe hrs : 46325 engines : CF5-50C. 3 people died in the crash and 100 injured.

Air disaster ; Rescue workers are taking care of a young girl who was injured after a Cuban plane crashed into a row of houses in Guatemala City yesterday. The girl was not a passenger. At least five people were killed in the accident, according to aviation authorities and rescue workers. (Metro)

Tuesday 21 December 1999 Cubana de Aviacion DC-10-30 leased from AOM, F-GTDI, c/n 46890. Passenger flight CU1216 from Havana (HAV), Cuba to Guatamala City (GUA) with 18 crew and 296 passengers. The aircraft overran on landing at on RW 19 and crashed into 10 houses. It landed 1250m down the 2767m long runway which was wet at that moment. Approach speed 154 kts, touch down speed 135 kts. RW altitude 1488m above sea level. First flight : 11 February 1973

Airframe hrs : 85760 cycles : 27331 engines : GE CF6-50C. 16 people on board died in the crash and 2 on the ground. 10 badly wounded and 47 lightly wounded people.
